My Story

Hi there! I'm Makayla, and at 9 years old, my favorite textbook isn't a book at all — it's the world. With 4 passports in my travel bag — United States, Portugal, Hong Kong, and Macau — I feel at home almost anywhere. I've had the incredible luck of exploring 42 countries, from the historic streets of Europe to the vibrant landscapes of Asia. Along the way, I've learned that while we all live in different places, we all speak the same language of music, movement, and friendship.

🛂 Four Passports, One World

Most people ask me where I'm from, but for me, that's a big question! Having four identities has given me more than just travel documents — it has given me the gift of language and culture. It's why I can jump from speaking Portuguese with family to winning English recitation contests in Macau, all while practicing Mandarin and Cantonese every day.

For me, holding four passports means having four different ways to say "Hello" and 42 different countries to call my playground. Each passport tells a story:

🇺🇸 United States: Where my journey with the English language began — paving the way for my Recitation wins!
🇵🇹 Portugal: My bridge to Europe and the beautiful Portuguese language.
🇭🇰 Hong Kong: My window to the world and a hub for my K-Pop and modern dance energy.
🇲🇴 Macau: My home, where I mastered the Chinese Flute and won my Recitation titles.

🗣️ A Passion for Words

I love the way languages unlock new worlds. Whether I'm speaking Cantonese or Mandarin at home, navigating in English, or practicing my Portuguese and German, I find that every word is a bridge.

One of my proudest moments was standing on stage in my hometown to win the English 1st Level Prize at both the 39th and 40th Macao Students' Recitation Contest. To me, reciting poetry is like music — it's about finding the perfect heart-beat in every sentence.

🎻 Harmony & Strength

When I'm not hopping on a plane or studying a new dialect, you'll find me in the studio or the dojo. I believe in balancing a creative heart with a strong spirit:

In the Studio: I express myself through the strings of my violin, the keys of the piano, the breath of the Chinese flute, and the high-energy beats of K-pop dancing.

On the Mat: Discipline is my superpower. I train in Judo, Karate, Martial Arts, and Gymnastics, learning that the most important part of any "throw" or "flip" is knowing how to get back up.
